Leap and the net will appear

I have been working towards my goal of being a professional photographer slowly and steadily; in small increments and large bursts, with divine inspiration and blind faith. This journey has taken me 13 long years (which are rather short in hindsight), but here I am, standing on the precipus of something monumental.
I am self taught in the arts...yes, that means there's a part of me that has to do everything the hard way. I do take workshops and stand alone classes to further hone my craft, but for the most part, the art that I create was the result of a long trial and error process.
A couple of years ago, I published my first book called Sacred~New Orleans Funerary Grounds which was kind of the Mother, if you will, as far as my art goes. This beautiful book, one which I love with all my heart, brought forth more projects than I ever dreamt possible. I took my book on the road, along with my photos and little pieces of jewelry that incorporate my art. People were responding and buying my wares with such a fervor I could hardly keep up. It turned into a business I called Curiosities...and voila! I was self employeed selling jewelry, art, photography, curiosities. Turns out, I had carved out a little niche for myself.
That was all well and good, but after 2 years of doing it I realized that I had been distracted from my goal. My goal was photography, not curiosities! How did I get so far away from photography?
I published a second book, which was another beauty. This book was based on the cemeteries of Paris as well as the city. Like New Orleans, Paris is a beautiful city that I easily fell in love with.
The photos are doing great - they are on display right now as I write this in downtown LA!

So where am I now?
I have stepped off the edge of the cliff, but I haven't taken my fingers off the ledge. I know there is a net waiting for me at the bottom, but it's not time to completely let go just yet... That day is August 1, 2008.

Now, my Curiosities business, http://www.curiosities-shop.com/ is closing in less than 20 days. The items on the website are discounted quite a bit in celebration of this new chapter in my life.
Once that is taken care of, I will let go and trust my net.
